Time includes any instruction on or off the water. Beginners/first timers will need a minimum of a 60 minute session. Lunch is not provided with timed lessons and sessions.

30 Minute Lesson or Session                                                         $59.00
60 Minute Lesson or Session                                                       $119.00

Traditional Full Day Wakeboard Lessons

Traditional wakeboard lessons are full day packages, from 9:00am to 5:00pm with a break for lunch. As with most of our lessons, just bring your swim trunks and favorite music (if you wish) and we'll cover all of the other details.

Traditional Wakeboard Lesson (All Skill Levels)                        $219.00
The traditional wakeboard lesson is a recommended first step for anyone wanting to try wakeboarding and its related water sports for the very first time. It is also the perfect next step for the experienced rider that wishes to take their wakeboarding skills to the next level. Whether you are a first timer, a highly experienced rider, or somewhere in between, it allows you to learn and ride without the restraint of a timed session.

For first timers and beginners, we take our time to ensure that you understand and learn the basics of the sport that many experienced wakeboarders take for granted, in addition to other elements many are not aware of. From wakeboarding to wake-surfing to wake-skating, whatever you wish to try, we'll ensure you have fun and learn in a safe and encouraging environment. Students are encouraged to try many different water sports and ride as often as they are able to.

For experienced riders, d
epending on the skills a student is trying to master, this lesson may also include training on the land or trampoline in addition to instruction on the water. Since all of our traditional lessons are with smaller groups of 3-4 persons, expect to ride as much as you are able to. Most students average 3 sets in a day but for those that are in great shape, 4-5 sets is not unheard of.

Wednesday Special
(All Skill Levels)                                          $169.00
Every Wednesday, we offer traditional wakeboard lessons for $50 off our normal price. This is the same great, full day on the water but at a substantial discount. Space is limited to a maximum of 5 students on Wednesdays. It's a good idea to plan ahead for these special days, as they fill up quick.

Private Wakeboard Lessons

Private lessons are available for those individuals that may want to learn in complete privacy or wish to learn using their own boat. We are familiar with and honor confidentiality and other professional athlete agreements and requests. (Wink, wink.) For groups of 2 or more, also see our Boat Rentals for additional options. Lunch is not provided with private lessons.

Private Lesson (2 hour minimum)                                                 $119.00/hour
Lessons on Your Boat (2 hour minimum)                                       $59.00/hour

Wakeboard Lesson Locations, Availability, And Schedule

Locations

Wakeboard lessons are primarily conducted on lakes in and around Denver, Longmont, and Windsor. When you call to set up your lesson, we can discuss the location, time, and type of lesson, camp, or session that will best fit your needs. Due to the Zebra and Quagga Mussels, we do not allow any other boats outside of our company boats on our private lakes. Sorry, no exceptions.

We can also conduct private lessons on your boat at a lake or reservoir of your choice, as long as we have permission to do so. See our private lessons for additional information.

Availability and Schedule
Wakeboard lessons are available from 7am to dark (around 8pm in the summer), seven days a week, during the summer season. To make the most of your time with us, it's a good idea to be at the dock or designated meeting point at least 15-20 minutes early for your booked lesson or session.
We reserve the right to reschedule any lesson or session due to poor weather or low attendance.

Full day wakeboard lessons and camps typically run from 9am to 5pm, with a 30-60 minute break for lunch. Riders will rotate throughout the day and will typically ride 3-5 sessions or sets, depending on what you are trying to accomplish or learn, and how often you need to rest. A typical set or ride session, is 20-30 minutes in length.

Schedule permitting, our instructors and team riders will typically ride before or after a session. It's always exciting to watch!

Why Take A Wakeboard Lesson?
Well if you have been riding with the same crew for the past 5 years and haven't improved, chances are that you have already made up your mind to take a lesson. So for the rest of you.....besides, trying something new, improving your skills, and having a great time, you will receive professional instruction from someone who knows how to explain and perform what you are trying to learn. We eliminate the same old bad advice and multiple people telling you different things to remember. You will learn at your own pace, in a fun setting, with a professional coach that will give you easy to follow instructions.

An analogy we often use is this: If you wanted to learn to fly a plane, would you accept advice or a "theory" from anyone that has not flown a plane? Doubtful. Wouldn't you want to learn from a qualified flight instructor that has a proven curriculum, and at the very least, has successfully taught a few others before you?

The same goes for a wakeboard lesson. If you are learning from someone that doesn't quite know what they are talking about, or only teaches you the way "that worked for them", or what they "believe" is right, it's not always going to be a successful experience.

So if you are stuck in a rut and can't seem to progress past your current skill level, or worse have taken some killer (and unnecessary) falls, or are confused about the next steps or what you could be doing wrong, it's time to take a lesson.

Testimonials from students that have been to a camp or lesson.

About Mile High Wakeboarding™ Instructors
As one often finds in athletics, the best athletes in the sport are not always the best instructors. Just because someone is a "world-class athlete" or a "professional wakeboarder", doesn't always mean they know how to break something down and explain it to you, in a way you will quickly understand.
Our instructors are chosen based on several important elements, including their communication skills, their knowledge of wakeboarding, their experience coaching, their professionalism, and their riding abilities.

There are absolutely zero applications taken for instructors at Mile High Wakeboarding™ and we pride ourselves in the highest caliber of instructors we have handpicked and thoroughly trained. Because our instructors work with, study with, learn from, and ride with the very best coaches and wakeboarders on the planet, they have the perfect balance of communication skills, ability, and coaching experience. In addition, many of our staff and guest staff are professional wakeboard coaches that are respected at the highest levels of our sport.

The training process to become a full time instructor at Mile High Wakeboarding™ is the hardest in the industry, and rivals any professional wakeboard school on the planet. Our instructors are paid very well (the best in the industry) and as such, we have zero turnover once they make it through training (with the exception of those we lose to college). After completing over 200 hours (five weeks) of "basic" training in the off season, every new instructor observes/drives the boat for an entire season, and is then observed for an additional season before they are allowed to coach solo. No other program on the planet requires this much effort and training, and we pride ourselves in the complements we hear daily about how great our programs and instructors are.

Advantages Of A Mile High Wakeboarding™ Lesson

All Inclusive - When you take a lesson with Mile High Wakeboarding, there are no extra or hidden costs, and dollar for dollar, we provide the best value in the United States for learning. Our all day packages even include food, photos/videos, equipment, and even a free t-shirt and board sticker with your first lesson.

Professional Instructors - Our instructors can explain exactly how to do something in words you can understand. None of our coaches are young punk kids looking for a free ride for the summer. All of our professional instructors are highly trained and are some of the best and most respected in the industry.

Location - We currently operate our wakeboard camps, wakeboard school, and wakeboard lessons on lakes in and around Denver, Longmont, and Windsor. For those that are learning something very technical and need the best water possible, we also provide lessons on several private reservoirs located in and around Longmont and Loveland. No other boats, no other traffic, just you and some of the best water in the area.

Quality Boats - Operating a wakeboard school, we require and expect the very best from a boat, after all, this is the single most important piece of equipment we use. In our experience, we have found that some manufacturers and dealers promise the world, but just can't deliver on those commitments, or worse, have constant mechanical problems. This is important because with such a short season in Colorado, one wants to take full advantage of every nice day, with little to no downtime. For this reason, we use Malibu Boats as well as Epic Boats. The Malibu VLX has been one of the most reliable, versatile, and fuel-efficient boats we have ever operated, and the Epic is simply a core rider's dream. Both start every time and are some of the most user friendly and feature rich boats made today. The wakes can be quickly tailored for a beginner, or a Team Rider, or Professional Wakeboarder in seconds, and the built-in luxuries make a day on the water comfortable, roomy, and as one would expect and demand. With little to no downtime, and an outstanding dealer and service department to back up the product, it's a clear choice why we chose Malibu Boats and Epic Boats.

Curriculum - The training program is the most important part of your time with Mile High Wakeboarding™. You will not only learn and progress while at wakeboard school, you will take home a customized step-by-step instructional to help you long after your lesson is over.

Equipment - Mile High Wakeboarding™ uses the latest in Hyperlite wakeboards and bindings, as well as Accurate ropes and handles. Quiksilver and Hyperlite life vests are also available in nearly every shape and size, and for the those chilly early and late season days, our wetsuit tops, wetsuits, and other important equipment will help you to stay warm and at the top of your game. MHW also uses Slingshot, Liquid Force, and other great brands and gear. Check out our sponsor and partner page for details on what we use.

Controlled Water Conditions - With proper driving, daily prayers and sacrifices to Mother Nature, and smart positioning to avoid wind and weather, we are experts at finding the smoothest lines of water available. The lakes and reservoirs we use for wakeboard camps and wakeboard lessons are selected because they provide the best overall water conditions available and are most often spared by the afternoon weather.

Number Of Students And Instructor To Student Ratio
At Mile High Wakeboarding™, there is a maximum of 5 students per boat during all group lessons and wakeboard camps.
This will maximize your riding, recovery, and instruction time. We have an average ratio of 1 instructor for every 3 students. For group lessons, most often, you will be placed with other students of similar abilities. By watching other students and listening to the instruction given to them, you quickly advance your own learning curve. It's not uncommon for 2 or more students to learn the same skill or trick in the same session.

Student Age And Experience Level
You quickly find that age is irrelevant in wakeboarding as we place you with other students that closely match your own abilities. You'll find that whether you are 8 or 68, you all have at least one thing in common with other students, wakeboarding. Its a sport that brings entire families together so age isn't always a factor. We have taught 4 year olds as well as a 72 year old grandmother.

At Mile High Wakeboarding™, we divide students into these 5 categories:

First Timer (Introductory)
The first timer is brand new to wakeboarding and its related activities (wakesurfing and wakeskating) and is learning the very basics of getting up, staying up, edging, and riding down the lake in a safe and controlled manner. A good boat driver and clear instructor are absolutely critical for your learning, safety, and avoiding unnecessary falls. The enthusiasm of first timers is very contagious so this is one of the most exciting lessons for us to teach.

Beginner
The beginner rider has mastered how to get up and stay up, and is starting to learn basic concepts such as body position, stance, edging, and basic surface slides, spins, and tricks. You have mastered how to get in and out of both wakes and may be working on riding switch or single wake jumps. Many, if not most, wakeboarders fall in between the beginner and intermediate level. This is also the stage where an understanding of various techniques starts to click for you, and with the right guidance and coaching, you'll quickly progress your skills.
One productive lesson can help guide you throughout an entire summer.

Intermediate
The intermediate rider has mastered the basic concepts listed above and can jump both heelside and toeside over at least 1 wake, and is in the process of building up to both wakes. You may also be working on intermediate level spins and inverts such as 180's, Backrolls, or Tantrums. This is a very exciting stage in wakeboarding because the tricks and skills start to come very rapidly. Skills that used to be considered a big deal for someone now become part of their warm up routine and are no longer intimidating.

Advanced-Intermediate
The advanced-intermediate rider has mastered most foundation concepts, both regular and switch, and is working on advanced-intermediate level spins and inverts, such as 360's, Raley's, and inverts with grabs. This level of rider is most often considered an enthusiast and rides as often as they can with their friends. This level of riding is also exciting because, with the right coaching, many of the basic spins and inverts will be learned in a short span of time, as they build upon earlier learned concepts and start to really understand handle control, line tension, and other key factors.

Advanced
The advanced level rider has a pretty good understanding of all foundation elements, from most approach angles, and is working on spins and inverts that involve handle passes, or multiple dynamics and variations. This rider is most likely looking for guidance and improvement on a single trick, such as a Moby Dick, Tantrum to Blind, Tootsie Roll, or a 911, just to name a few. Land or trampoline work may play an important role in this level of training. This level of student may also be looking for guidance on how to put together a contest run, or train for an event or competition.

In Depth Description Of A Wakeboard Lesson
While this section does not apply to all students, from time to time, we get detailed questions from excited students that want to make the most of their time with us. They are stoked for their lesson and want to absorb as much information as they can prior to, and during their session with us. For those of you that need to know some of the details of an actual lesson or session, we've included this more in-depth description.

At Mile High Wakeboarding™, we focus on the basic fundamentals of wakeboarding; such as body position, stance, approach, and edging. These foundation skills or building blocks are essential for learning how to execute additional skills you'll learn later on such as jumps, spins, rolls, and flips. We start our coaching program by spending time with each student to determine your current riding abilities, your personal learning style, and your wakeboarding goals. We know that each person is unique so a great deal of care is taken to ensure that every single student relates to and understands his or her wakeboard instructor(s) clearly. Our ultimate goal for you is to make the most out of your stay with us so you can continue to progress long after you leave your wakeboard lesson.

Once you receive a break down of whatever skill you are trying to learn, you may start your program on land, by practicing the basic elements or parts of a trick through various exercises, drills, and/or trampoline training. For some tricks, we also explain the "why" as well as the how. By explaining the "why" (physics) of a trick along with the "how" (execution), we rapidly build your wakeboarding skills and confidence and help you envision what you are working on. This combination of mental and physical preparation advances muscle memory, air awareness, and basic riding skills much more quickly and safely. It helps you to understand how the basic elements of tricks you may already know assemble together to complete a new trick. And more importantly for you, it allows you to practice more easily, so once you feel comfortable, you can take your new skills to the water confidently, safely, and more successfully .....every single time.

Last, in order to make the most out of a session with us, we will create a list of exercises, drills, and "things to do" before returning for another wakeboard camp or wakeboard lesson. You will have a very specific, step-by-step instructional guide, tailored just for you. This will be a key to advancing your abilities, continuing your development after coming to our wakeboard school, and taking your tricks to the water safely and successfully. This out of school process could take a week, a month, or a year. Once completed, your next trip for a lesson will be much more productive as we build upon a stronger foundation and skill set. Your time and money invested in a wakeboard lesson will have a much better value as you have something tangible to show for it.

In conclusion, you will be amazed at what you can do with the right coaching.

Mile High Wakeboarding™ Philosophy
Our philosophy and goal is to provide a fun wakeboarding experience with a solid and useful curriculum. We believe our program and our instructor's training and communication skills are among the best in the business. Whether you are just learning to get up on a wakeboard for the very first time, or learning a highly difficult trick, we will help you control that little fuzzy feeling in your stomach and push through to the next level. Fear is simple to understand. There is what you have been afraid of, what are you afraid of now, and what you will be afraid of. Fear never goes away, it is simply controlled.
