Colorado Wakeboard Contests and Events
2010 Mile High Wakeboarding - Colorado Wakeboard Festival

What an amazing year so far in Colorado! This year we will add a brand new "wakeboard festival" to the line up and end the summer with a big bang. The wakeboard contest on August 14th has been extended into a 2-day event. The first day will consist of the wakeboarding contest, along with pro appearances, autograph sessions, and on the water pro demos. The second day will consist of $10 wakeboard/boat pulls, several crowd games, contests to win free goodies, free equipment demos, and discounted pro clinics with our visiting pro wakeboarders. In brief, it will be a great time the entire weekend for anyone watching or participating - and we have a lot of cool prizes!!

Emily Copeland-Durham and Amber Wing really pumped up the scene last year and we had a record turnout of 93 pulls and 84 individual contestants breaking our old record of 78. For 2010, we are going to have to limit each division to 10 total riders so sign up early and don't wake-crastinate!!

Wakeboard Contest Overview
Practice pulls will take place at Windsor Lake on Friday, August 13th from 1pm to 6pm at $10 per pull. It's a good idea to show up early to ensure you get a pull because we will have to wrap up on time and there is always a line.

The prizes for participants and spectators will be the biggest thus far and last year was absolutely amazing - just ask around - it was crazy and nearly everyone went home with something big! You MUST participate in a contest of some sort to be eligible for the super grand prizes this year, which will be selected in a random drawing. So even if you are total beginner or just working on your tan, it's worth participating in something to earn some free goodies! We will even have a trailer backing contest so sharpen up your skills there as well!!

For 2010, we have spin-masta' Jeff McKee onsite for a throw down session. Jeff is a super great guy to ride with and is the man behind the scenes in many of the magazines and movies that you may have seen - the latest being Slick City - which we will show/premier the evening after the contest on August 14th. A true spinner in every sense of the word, Jeff is also a great coach and team captain for Slingshot wakeboards. Jeff will be doing a demo on Saturday, the 14th, along with a pro-coaching clinic on the 15th. Jeff will be also be onsite to sign autographs and take pictures with fans on the 14th..

This event is exclusively conducted, funded, and hosted by Mile High Wakeboarding™ in partnership with the Town of Windsor. We have several contest divisions - see below. For 2010, we are going to have to limit each division to 10 total riders so sign up early and don't wake-crastinate! It was dark-thirty when we wrapped up last year so we have to cap it off so we can all get some sleep!

General Contest Guidelines
•Judging for each division is based on a combined score of Style, Technical Difficulty, and Amplitude. Advanced, Expert, and Outlaw divisions receive a small bonus for the Best Trick and Best Double Up and for completing the "bonus trick" to be determined at each event.

•Women, Masters, and Groms may compete in both their respective division, and another division if they choose to. Registration, entry fees, and points will be calculated separately.

•Riders are allowed two (2) falls. A rider's contest run is over on a third (3rd) fall. Advanced, Expert, and Outlaw riders still standing at the end of their run are eligible to hit the double up.

•All riders, through the Advanced division, will use the boat rope and handle (Accurate A Line w/Prime Handle). Advanced, Expert, and Outlaw divisions may use their own rope and handle.

•MHW has allowed check-in and start times to be flexible so you don't have to sit in the hot sun all day. Please note the event schedule at each contest stop throughout the series. MHW has created the current schedule based on participation at the last contest, and will keep it updated as needed, or as additional participation requires.

•Each division is limited to a maximum of 10 riders based on the order that MHW receives their registration. Sorry, no exceptions.

•MHW will post results throughout the day (for 1st -3rd) and award prizes after the contest has concluded.

•All riders are welcome to catch a $10 demo pull behind the actual tournament boat on the Friday prior to each contest stop. This will allow you to become familiar with the lake, tow boat, and boat wake. Simply show up at the select location after 1pm the Friday before, and sign up for a tow. We'll be there until 6pm.

•Every win, place, and contest entry will accumulate and earn a rider points towards the 2010 Series Championship. (In season's where we host 3 or more events.)

•In a year where MHW hosts 3 or more contests, each rider will have their lowest score dropped. In this case, if a rider misses an event or has a bad day, it will not be detrimental to their overall standings.

Other Contest Details
•It is a smart idea to bring chairs, shade, and sunscreen, as you will need them - and feel free to set up under any tents we have set up.

•Small, friendly dogs are also welcome (please clean up after your pet or we won't be able to allow this in the future).

•The rider traveling the furthest distance (based on home address or your plane ticket) to each stop of the contest series will be awarded a "sponsored" entry into that contest and a free t-shirt. This rider will be announced the day of the event and all registration costs will be refunded to them on the spot. This is MHW's way of saying thank you for making the effort to attend!

•In the event of poor weather, MHW will bump the contest to the next morning or if that option is not available to us, we will entertain you until it passes over. MHW should have huge tents this year and we'll do our best to keep everyone out of the sun and rain, and keep it fun! The dates we have picked are usually pretty great for weather but you never know.

•There will not be any room for additional boats on the lake(s).

•The tournament will start exactly on time and we will do our best to keep it moving as quickly and efficiently as possible.

•All contest riders receive a MHW contest T-shirt. (Series Champions may receive a special T-shirt.)

•Contest riders should bring their own board, life vest, and gear but plan ahead with us if you will need equipment.

•We have developed these contests to be family-friendly. Please pick up after yourself, behave yourself, do not park in areas that block others, and have courtesy and respect for others around you, as well as the lake property. Note local drinking laws within parks and/or cities. Please note that any music played should be PG rated and radio friendly.

•MHW can always use photographers and other volunteers at each contest/event. If you are personable and can snap a photo, or would like to help with other activities, let us know. We fund these events entirely on our own so we need all the help we can get!

•Lastly, we conduct these events just for you! If you have constructive feedback and would like your voice to be heard, call or email us (moreinfo at milehighwakeboarding.com) your suggestions. You may find that we have already considered your proposal or suggestion but this sport is constantly evolving and we all have much to learn. What works today may be outdated tomorrow.

Vendor Information

If you would like to advertise your product, service, or business at any of our contests or events, please contact us at least 30 days prior to the event(s) you are interested in, to discuss your specific interests and ideas. Basic forms of advertising can include MC announcements during the event, coupons, flyers and/or stickers given out to each participant, and setting up a booth/tent with your company banners and/or displays of your product or service. There are other methods as well, and we are always open to additional wake-specific and cross-promotional ideas. Each request is considered individually. Most of our events are held on city property so if approved, we will fill you in on the next steps to ensure you are within city requirements, permits, and other guidelines we have for vendors.
